Privacy Policy

This page explains what information JohnHost collects, why, and what happens to it. It is written to actually be read rather than filed away — if anything here is unclear, reach out and ask.

1. What I collect

JohnHost is a small, self-run operation, so the amount of data collected is limited on purpose.

• Application info: when you apply for a server, you fill out a Google Form. That form collects whatever you enter — typically your Minecraft username, a contact method (like Discord), and details about the server you want. That data is stored and handled by Google, subject to Google's own privacy policy, and is only used by me to review and process your application.
• Server data: once you have a server, JohnHost stores whatever files, worlds, and configs live on that server, plus the daily backups described elsewhere on this site. This data is used to run and back up your server — nothing more.
• Basic technical logs: like most hosting setups, standard connection logs (such as IP address and timestamps) may be recorded briefly for troubleshooting and to keep the DDoS protection working. These are not sold, shared, or used for tracking.

2. What I don't do

• I don't sell your information to anyone, ever.
• I don't run ad trackers, analytics pixels, or third-party marketing scripts on this site.
• I don't access the contents of your server files unless it is necessary for support, troubleshooting, or investigating a rules violation.

3. Cookies

This site uses a small consent cookie to remember your choice, plus session essentials to keep the control panel running. No tracking scripts or third-party advertising are used. The only cookie JohnHost writes on its own is stored after you choose "Accept" on the consent banner; choosing "Decline" stores nothing.

4. Third parties

The application form is hosted on Google Forms, meaning Google processes and stores that submission under its own privacy policy. Beyond that, JohnHost does not share your data with any third party except where required by law or necessary to prevent abuse (for example, mitigating an attack).

5. Data retention

Server data and backups are kept for as long as your server is active. If a server is removed for inactivity or a rules violation, associated backups are deleted within a reasonable time afterward. Application form responses are kept only as long as needed to process your application.

6. Your choices

You can ask at any time what data JohnHost holds related to your server or application, and you can request its deletion (aside from what is needed to keep basic records of active services). Reach out through the contact method listed on your application confirmation.

7. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and significant changes will be communicated directly to active users where possible.
